In vitro fertilisation / in vitro maturation
It is possible to harvest oöcytes (eggs) from a woman with HHT.
These eggs can be fertilised in the laboratory and analysed whether they carry HHT or not. These egg(s) can be placed back into the womb.
This procedure is not simple, has ethical considerations and is only possible in a few Dutch hospitals. It is conceivable that a Dutch woman with HHT and with bad experiences with HHT decides to have IVF or IVM, but that it is refused for ethical reasons. The rules in Belgium are more lenient.
